Over the years, we’ve seen that some of the best opportunities for growth can be embedded in chaos. What’s one way you can begin to discover these opportunities?
In a constantly shifting business environment filled with turbulence, the real challenge isn’t just leading through the chaos; it’s shifting how you look at the chaos. Expanding your shared frame of reference about a situation can literally change how you think, feel, and act upon it. And this is what can enable you to take advantage of game-changing opportunities that can reshape the future to your advantage.
In this week’s Quick Take episode, we discuss just a few of the ways you can expand your frame of reference to discover hidden opportunities. This includes becoming aware of familiar patterns of thought, feeling, and action that may no longer serve you well in uncharted territory. We share how we use games to look at familiar patterns in new ways. Building on this, we discuss how bringing other perspectives into conversations can shift the stories you tell yourself, the assumptions you lean on, the questions you ask, and more.
We also share two real-world examples of leadership teams that were able to break their habitual patterns of thinking and action by reframing their situations; they discovered surprising opportunities that enabled them to significantly increase their business innovation, transformation, and company growth.
“Expanding your frame doesn’t need to start with the outside world. It really starts with increasing your own awareness of how you see the world.” Pam Harper
